Financial Inclusion for Women in the Developing World: A Spectrum of Approaches

  •  June 29, 2017
     6:00 PM - 8:30 PM

This event is generously sponsored by Beyond Our Borders, a group-advised fund held at The Women’s Foundation of Colorado.

Full financial inclusion of women in the developing world is an essential element of global poverty eradication. Many development efforts emphasize training or capacity-building work with women; this work needs to be paired with broader structural changes, such as in access to financial tools in order to maximize impact. What, precisely, is financial inclusion work seeking to address? What are the various tools and resources available to women? What outcomes do we see from these different approaches to women’s financial inclusion? What innovations or shifts are emerging in financial inclusion work in the developing world? Come to this event to hear from several experts on the topic.

We’ll cover a few approaches, including:

  • Microlending, both from lending and implementation standpoints
  • Gender-lens investing

Panelists include:

Moderated by Janney Carpenter, Director and Co-Founder, Impact Commons and Adjunct Faculty, Korbel School of International Studies.

The event is free and open to the public. Drinks and heavy appetizers will be provided.
