Hosted by the Posner Center

The international NGO community has come under intense scrutiny recently, from Oxfam’s expulsion from Haiti and the discovery of widespread sexual abuse of students in Liberia’s More Than Me. These cases are illustrative examples of what not to do. The bigger question, though, is: how can organizations actively create and bring to life policies and organizational cultures that prevent abuse and exploitation?

A few questions we’ll explore: What role(s) can or should different members of the organization play in supporting policy dissemination throughout the organization? What kinds of dialogues, conversations, or organizational habits have been useful for organizations as they engage stakeholders with policies? How have organizations navigated cultural differences in the implementation of policy?

All Posner Tenants and Members are invited to join this dialogue. Please plan to bring your own experience of what’s been successful and where you need the support of your peers to think through these issues more deeply.
