Featuring former Guatemalan Health Minister, Dr. Lucrecia Hernández-Mack

Hosted by the Posner Center

During 2016-2017, a team of public health and social medicine professionals were selected to lead the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Guatemala, a public institution that had historically been run by clinicians or party politicians. Join us as we host former Guatemalan Minister of Health, Dr. Lucrecia Hernández-Mack, as she shares her experience of heading the Ministry of Health in a time of transition. She’ll discuss the broader political context, the plan that was developed and implemented, and explore the central institutional challenges they faced. She’ll explore the politics of implementing policy, using the perspective of key stakeholders. We’ll use her case study as a lens for understanding governance challenges, the relationship between policies and social change, and how NGOs and civil society can better participate in this process.

A light lunch will be provided.

Remote attendees will be emailed a Zoom link to join the event by videoconference.
