Executive Director Staff

As the Executive Director of the Posner Center, Burke Fishburn leads the Posner Community in making Denver and Colorado an international hub and leader of collaborative global development. He brings a wealth of global public health, management, and strategic evaluation and planning expertise to our organization.

He served as a shipboard US Naval Officer then transitioned to an accidental public health career. He managed the US Department of Health and Human Services legislative program, became a senior advisor on food and drug safety policy, then built a policy and evaluation team for the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Office on Smoking and Health. In 2001, Burke made the move to global public health, first as a CDC Technical Officer on loan to the World Health Organization in Vietnam and other countries, and later as a WHO Regional Coordinator for the Tobacco Free Initiative responsible for anti-smoking activities in over 20 countries. Prior to directing the Posner Center, Burke founded and managed a series of consulting firms devoted to global public health.
