A Note From the Board

Growth, purpose, and planning with Wendy Lu Maxwell-Barton, Posner Board Chair

February has been called the longest, shortest month of the year, but this year in Colorado we find ourselves in a perpetual warm and dry winter—missing snow and cold, but sometimes enjoying the warm sun, and hoping March will bear out with as much precipitation as it has in years past.

So, too, with the Posner Center: the volunteer Board of Directors is still processing the changes brought in 2025. and are also seeing growing hope in Posner’s and the Colorado-based international development community’s grit and resilience in response to last year’s devasting losses.

As a Board, we are working behind the scenes to keep the Posner Center in a strong financial position to continue its community-building work through perhaps boring but highly impactful efforts, such as reducing operating costs and instituting knowledge management systems. We are also working to increase tenancy among broader impact-focused organizations, both for-profit and nonprofit, while continuing to leverage the amazing Horse Barn to create revenue and community in a beautiful synergy. Fortunate to host a growing number of programs with longtime Posner community member and now Board member Susan Abbott, we are also looking to expand partnerships with other impact-focused organizations.

All of this work is done with, and by, Posner’s amazing humans. Joining longtime and beloved Posner staff member Jamie Hansen, Building Director, is Meegan Moszynski as a consulting Board Coordinator, leading the above-mentioned work to support Posner’s strategy and execution. We are also fortunate to receive new support from Meagan Morris as Marketing and Communications Coordinator, bringing experience from impactful organizations, including Posner’s own LCHT. If you see Meegan or Meagan (we’re all working to get the names right!) at Posner, please do introduce yourself.

We also want to acknowledge the resilience of Posner’s founding organization, iDE, as they navigate changing funding landscapes. You may have noticed they’ve moved to a smaller space on the first floor in the corral – make sure to say hi in their new space. We’re grateful to continue to collaborate with iDE and their work remains a core part of Posner’s community.

As we move through this longest, shortest month, we encourage you to connect at and through the Posner Center, contribute to events at Posner, and—if you’re not already working at the Posner Center—reach out to Jamie to inquire about available opportunities. On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are deeply grateful for this resilient, gritty, passionate, and extraordinarily generous community that comes together with—and at—the Posner Center.
