All proceeds go toward Global Health Connections’ maternity center in Leogane, Haiti. Funds raised will directly pay birthing costs in an area hardest hit by the earthquake in 2010. Approximately 226,000 people have died in the 2010 Haiti earthquake, and Leogane was 4 miles from the quake’s epicenter.

The quake crisis has lessened, but not the need for maternity care, and especially in the Leogane area. Maternal mortality rates in Haiti are the worst in the western hemisphere. This is because only 25% of births in Haiti are attended by a health professional. In contrast, 95% of births are attended by a health professional in the neighboring Dominican Republic.
