Engaging Education Models in Tanzania and Denver featuring Asimwe Suedi Ayubu, Binti Shupavu Project Manager Africaid Tanzania

AfricAid

WorldDenver Young Professionals invite Asimwe Suedi from AfricAid Tanzania to host a discussion about her work leading the educational intervention Binti Shupavu in northern Tanzania, serving girls ages 13-18. In Tanzania, only 1/3 of girls who begin secondary school will complete. Binti Shupavu, meaning ‘courageous daughters’ in Swahili, is a needs-driven training and mentoring program that gives vulnerable adolescent girls the knowledge, skills, and support they need to stay in, complete, and transition from secondary school to additional education or vocational training.

Joining Asimwe in this conversation will be Denver area refugee high school students, sharing their experiences here in the US context. This dialogue seeks to offer a new way of looking at education from a global perspective. Light meal and refreshments will be served. Cost: $15.
