Development Dialogue

  •  June 10, 2015
     12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Join tenants IEEE Smart Village and Regis University in a Development Dialogue this Wednesday at noon in the Commons.  These tenants collaborate on off-grid energy solutions, income generation, web connectivity, and Development Practice education connected to the new IEEE Global Classroom at Posner.  IEEE Smart Village is a partnership of electrical and electronics engineers, entrepreneurs and community leaders, and educators from rural/urban and global north/south contexts.   They incubate, design, and seed-fund energy products and services for off-grid deployment and local ownership.
Regis University teams with IEEE Smart Village participants (both on- and off-grid) to design, deliver, and accredit courses in an eight-month Development Practice Graduate Certificate. Each of the four courses meets weekly for two months.  Students access global resources and apply their learning to their development organizations and/or home communities.  This process links the realities of populations living at risk or in excess of the Earth’s carrying capacity.  Their aim is to equip practitioners of integrated approaches to lasting development solutions.
