Planting Stories, Cultivating Donors with Daniel Horsey
Some people like driving toward The Ask … but not everyone. Many of us active in the nonprofit world already hold a fundraiser’s greatest asset — authentic relationships — but we become self-conscious about our agenda. We could benefit from moving those relationships forward, ever so gently and naturally, toward support for our organizations. This session will focus on honoring those relationships, sharing natural stories together, and letting development … develop. Specific skills include five listening techniques, open-ended storytelling, deepening relationships through personal stories, intentional conversations, and gentle, honorable advocacy. Participants will understand the value of integrating stories with relationship-building, find enjoyment in advocacy, and learn specific skills around using personal stories for effective outreach and fundraising. The suggested audience includes: Board members, fundraising committee members, executive and development directors, engaged stakeholders, and others interested in supporting their organizations beyond the usual choir members.
