The Posner Center is proud to be a community partner of The School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) for the 2022 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. Beginning in mid-June, the CU Denver School of Public Affairs will host 25 of Africa’s bright, emerging Public Management leaders for a six-week Leadership Institute, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and implemented by IREX.
The Mandela Washington Fellowship, the flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), empowers young African leaders through academic coursework, leadership training, mentoring, networking, professional opportunities, and local community engagement. YALI was created in 2010 and supports young Africans as they spur economic growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security across Africa.
The Posner Center will host a day-long Development Leaders Workshop at the Posner Center building in the Five Points neighborhood on Wednesday, 15 June (9 am-5 pm), during Week Two of the Institute. This workshop will draw the Posner Center Community organizations into dialogue with the Fellows about the lived and leadership experience of community development in Africa, Denver, and around the world to support one another for working in partnership with communities.
This will be a hybrid event (in-person with Fellows and Denver-based Posner Center Community organizations; virtual with the Posner Center Community organizations global network), with a mix of plenary, breakout sessions, and lunch.
This is an invitation-only event
