Dr. Agodi Alagbe

Dr. Agodi Alagbe is the founder and visionary behind Center for Teaching and Learning (founded in 2012) and the founder of International Center for Education and Youth Development, a USA not for profit organization (founded in 2004). Dr. Alagbe founded Center for Teaching & Learning with a vision to improve the educational outcomes of Nigeria’s youth. The Center operates CTL Academy, an American standards based international school that delivers high quality pre-primary, primary and secondary education, as well as professional development for teachers.

Dr. Alagbe has extensive expertise in the field of education and human capital development. She moved to the USA in 1989 and spent about twenty years working in the Los Angeles public school system where she held several positions of increasing responsibility including classroom teacher, grade level chairperson, project coordinator, grants coordinator, program review consultant, vice principal and principal. She was adjunct professor at California State University Dominguez Hills and the University of Southern California. She served on the Instructional Resources Evaluation Panel for the California State Board of Education; she was a Member of the California Distinguished Schools Program and the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program.

In 2009 Dr. Alagbe was invited to serve as Technical Adviser to the Minister of Education in Nigeria. She served on several high level committees including the Education Roadmap Implementation Team and Nigeria’s Vision 20A2020 National Working Group. She was an inaugural member of the United Nations Steering Committee on Women Political Empowerment (WPE) Strategy in Nigeria.

Dr. Alagbe has presented papers and conducted workshops for diverse audiences in different settings in the USA and Nigeria. She was a writer for Los Angeles Family Magazine and has published articles on education and child development.

Dr. Alagbe holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Southern California, a MA in Computer Based Education from California State University, and a M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Architecture from University of Nigeria. She has several professional certifications including California Professional Administrative Services Credential, California Professional Teaching Credential, Bilingual Crosscultural and Language Development Credential, and American Red Cross Certified Childcare Provider Certificate. Dr. Alagbe is proficient in English, Spanish and Igbo (her native Nigerian language).
