Come join this 2-day training on powerful open-source tools such as R and QGIS where you’ll learn how to leverage aWhere’s 1.7 million virtual weather stations and 13+ years of historical data to inform decisions for food security, disaster risk reduction planning, and more for locations across the globe. aWhere’s localized weather data can help adapt our world to climate change!

This course includes access to aWhere’s data platform for one month after the completion of the course.

Presenters:
Lauren Allognon has been passionate about sustainable agriculture and improving global food security since her time as a Peace Corps volunteer in Benin, West Africa where she worked closely with smallholder farmers. Lauren strongly believes that getting high quality data into the hands of those who can take action is critical for building resilience and improving adaptation to climate change.
David Bervinson, PhD leverages his diverse experience to integrate weather and data science into workflows across the entire agrifood sector. Before becoming the Chief Science Officer at aWhere, David initiated Digital Design at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and translated data into prosperity for families in Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa as Director General of an International Research Center (ICRISAT).

Registration closes one week prior to the course. Once registration closes, participants will receive information on how to create an account. If you currently work with farmers or with agriculture, please bring a list of locations (latitude, longitude) so we can pull data that is relevant to your current work!

This event is open to the general public and both in person and online. Zoom link will be sent to registrants one hour before the start of the event.  Registration below is required to attend.
